Retirement Age

.The government will be introducing new law on retirement age covering all sectors. Moving towards 60 years. This is due to increase in our life expectancy.

.Whilst in principle it is good but whether a blanket approach is a wise move or not yet to be seen.

.For certain categories, retiring at 60 years of age would really be of challenge whilst others would be good as 55 years is still young to retire if one is still healthy and productive.

.Whatever it may be, we should not frustrate the young generations who are eager to move up the ladder.

.For new entrant into the workforce or those moving into new contract of employment 60 years of age for retirement would be appropriate.

.In summary, we should not have a blanket approach on retroactive and if it is still a need to do it must be with conditions eg health and performance.

.We in Malaysia tend to be on knee jerk reaction in introducing new things.
