Minimum Wage

1. I watched TV1 Bicara Rakyat tonight 6th May 2011 on Minimum Wage. I think the deliberation and representation were not appropriate.

2. The Deputy Minister of HR was making more of political slant statement without giving balanced views on the issue. No appropriate recognition was given to employers.

3. Cuepacs President was more emotional when giving his views.

4. The representative of MTUC was more calm and composed.

5. Whilst I support the idea of paying wages above poverty line, the productivity and skills must not be forgotten.

6. No point having minimum wage when it eventually lead to increasing cost structure without increasing in productivity.

7. This would put the nation to be less competitive in the global arena.

8. Proper definition of wages must be made clear first.

9. Poverty line of RM800 must be defined.

10. Productivity and skills certification must be made as conditions to raising the level of wage.

11. Does the unions themselves pay a reasonable minimum wage to all their employees all these while?
